Dear ,

Join NOW at Unity Rally in D.C., Sat. Aug. 27

Who: NOW and 47 other partner organizations

What: Hate Bleeds America – Unity Rally in commemoration of the historic March on Washington 53 years ago

  • 12:00 pm: Assembly at Folger Park, 2nd and 3rd Street SE between D and E Street SE
  • 12:30 pm: March to NRA Office
  • 1:00 pm: Rally at National Rifle Association, 410 First Street, SE

To commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the historic March on Washington and continue the mission of the civil rights movement, a coalition of organizations and people of good conscience will rally at the Washington, D.C. lobbying headquarters of the National Rifle Association on Capitol Hill. The August 27th rally will call for an end to the hate that is permeating our nation and fueling escalating gun violence. Our objective is to mobilize 5,000 people to call for enactment of common-sense gun safety reforms.

Join Reverend Al Sharpton, Founder and President, National Action Network; Randi Weingarten, President, American Federation of Teachers (AFT); Martin Luther King, III and allies as we will call for an America with dramatically fewer guns, dramatically harder to get.

We’ll speak to the media in one of the settings that matters most: on the doorstep of the NRA, the powerful Washington special interest that has facilitated the deaths of many thousands of our fellow citizens. Enough!

Together, we will speak with one, powerful voice for a safer nation.

After the Rally, August 28-November 7: 72 days of Action on Gun Violence

August 28, will kick off 72 days of direct action against the gun lobby - a sustained drumbeat through Election Day 2016. Those actions will include marching, rallying, convening, letter writing, phone banking, town hall meetings and acts of civil disobedience demanding reform of gun laws. We intend to keep the message - and hope - alive until the day Americans vote.
