Join NOW in "Simpson Must Go!" Demonstration

Fiscal Commission Co-Chair Alan Simpson must go! Join NOW activists on Capitol Hill for a picket calling for the resignation or removal of Social Security foe Simpson from this influential commission.

On Wednesday morning, Sept. 29, economic justice activists will demonstrate outside the building where the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform is scheduled to meet. At the picket NOW President Terry O'Neill will deliver nearly 1,500 baby bottle tops from NOW supporters as part of its "Tits for an Ass" campaign.

In August, Simpson ranted in an e-mail to Executive Director Ashley Carson of the Older Women's League (OWL) that Social Security is "a milk cow with 320 million tits" and those who advocate on behalf of Social Security recipients should "find honest work."

"NOW's 500,000 members and supporters responded overwhelmingly when we asked them to help us buy baby bottle nipples," says O'Neill. "And I'm ready to deliver them to Mr. Simpson -- as a going-away gift -- when I urge him to have the decency to step down from the Fiscal Commission."

What: Picket outside meeting of the Fiscal Commission; NOW President Terry O'Neill delivers 1,500 baby bottle tops to Co-Chair Alan Simpson

Where: Dirksen Senate Office Building, Constitution Avenue and 1st Street, NE (Location subject to change by commission)

"The Fiscal Commission should be led by someone who will actually try to address the federal budget deficit, instead of using it as an excuse to undermine Social Security by cutting benefits or raising the retirement age," O'Neill continues. "Alan Simpson is not that person."

See you on Capitol Hill!
