April 14, 2011
It has come to this: NOW had to fight the Tea Party to retain birth control and screenings for cancer, STIs and HIV/AIDS for millions of low-income women for the rest of the 2011 fiscal year. Well, we got that.
But this victory was only partial: The final 2011 budget deal cuts $38 billion from programs that are more likely to serve women and employ women as well. And in a cruel, spiteful move, the local District of Columbia government is now forbidden to use local funds for abortion care for low-income women.
We are doing everything we can to restore funding and fight back against these threats to women’s health, livelihoods and our very lives – and we need your help. Your membership is up for renewal, and your commitment to NOW has never been more important. You can renew today online, safely and securely.
